Go on a hiking trip with a free map!
You can easily print out a map for your next hiking trip in Norway - and best of all: They're for free! The maps have the same design as the paper maps that can be bought in shops.
It is possible to print out your own map by using the ‘My Hiking Map’ feature at norgeskart.no. You can be sure that you get the latest version. They are updated every single week. You can also choose the exact area that you want to make a map of.
How to make your own map
- Zoom in and place the cursor over the area that you want to print out.
- Click on ‘Lag kart’ (make map) in the menu that appears on the bottom of the screen.
- Choose the top panel "Turkart" in the dialogue box.
- If necessary, adjust the area displayed in the orange field and click on the ‘Lag turkart’ button.
- Wait while the map is generated and then click on the ‘Download Map’ button to create a PDF file that can be printed out.
Areas of use/application
The maps are well suited as hiking maps for use in the mountains, in the forest, along the coast and for hunting and fishing.
They are easy to read and help you to both plan your trip and find your way through the terrain. Grids and coordinates help you to calculate compass bearings and distances. The maps are also well suited for use with GPS receivers.
It is also possible to highlight marked trails. Of course, the map also contains nautical information so you can plan both a hiking trip in the mountains and a kayak trip.
